Sanbona means "Check out my blog!" in Zulu. Actually, that is a lie. It just means hello everyone. This is the account of my year in South Africa. It begins in Washington DC in July. I am now all the way across the Atlantic living and working in Durban. I know, you wish you were me. Or maybe you don’t and are happy to be 5,000 miles away from the nearest TB patient. Either way, take a look, read over my rambling posts, and please leave hypercritical comments about my spelling and grammar.
It doesnt really feel like Thanksgiving at all here. Kind of strange. I wasnt even sure what day it was. As odd as it is for me, I am sure its equally strange for our families not to have us around. Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving to my friends, family, and anyone else that stops by.

Yes, I am Cully Wiseman. I have the curse of a unisex first name that I must spell outloud to people on a daily basis, and the blessing of a cool doctor-sounding last name. Someday, it will be great to hear a nurse say to me, "Dr. Wiseman, you left your stethoscope in the bathroom again." I am currently living in the magical moment that occurs between one's 3rd and 4th year of medical school. Except for me that moment takes an entire year and occurs in South Africa. I am here with my lovely girlfriend (who is a nurse, but just calls me Cully when I leave me stehescope in the bathroom) and very much enjoying all aspects of my life here: work, culture, food, red wine, people around me, surfing, and my piece of crap little car. I have a great life right now, and hope I can keep that going for a while.
